This is a project that was funded by the Oberman Center In Iowa City. I worked with writer John D'Agata.
He Translated Plutarch's prose from greek to english. I translated his words back into the matrix of visual language. This is what it looked like. It was exhibited as in installation in Bklyn at Ferro /Strouse gallery in 2013. Now its all in a box.
The Plutarch Project
The Plutarch project was a collaborative project between the writer John D'Agata and Katie Merz. The personal letters of Plutarch to his wife were translated from Greek by John. I would then translate his translations into comics, hierogylphs, films, wall pieces and board games. These pieces culminated in an installation at the Ferro Strouse Gallery in Brooklyn in 2012. The Project was made possible by a grant from Obermann Center at the University of Iowa, 2012.
